Pools, terraces and renovations in Pilar de la Horadada

About 25 minutes from our base in Los Balcones.

What we usually build in Pilar de la Horadada

Pilar de la Horadada is two plot worlds in one municipality. Up in Pinar de Campoverde, at the foot of the Sierra de Escalona, the older villas sit on hillside plots of roughly 800 to 1,000 m² among the pines, so this is where the whole-garden jobs happen: an 8 x 4 or 9 x 4 concrete pool, a retaining wall that turns a slope into a level terrace, porcelain or travertine paving, gravel and native planting under the trees, lighting and irrigation drawn as one project. Down on the coast it is the opposite. Torre de la Horadada chalets stand on 150 to 200 m² plots, Mil Palmeras has whole developments of row houses with shared areas, and Pueblo Latino, El Mojón and Las Villas are older low-rise summer housing. There we fit compact pools of 5 x 3 or 6 x 3, plunge pools in courtyards, outdoor showers, pergolas and full renovations: new bathrooms, kitchens, a roof terrace you can actually use. Around Lo Romero Golf the newer villas mostly need the outdoor side finished, and ORIGEN prices that as one package: pool, paving, fencing.

Getting it licensed in Pilar de la Horadada

Pilar has been its own municipality since 1986, and the licence for a pool, a terrace or a renovation goes through the Ayuntamiento de Pilar de la Horadada, whose Urbanismo department sits in the town hall on Plaza Campoamor. We draw the project, put the paperwork together and file it ourselves, and you get copies of everything that was filed, with the registration stamp. Then we wait for the grant before the first excavator arrives. How long that takes depends on the town hall and on what you are building, so we keep you posted rather than promising a date. ORIGEN runs the whole process.

Ground, wind and access in Pilar de la Horadada

Inland, in Pinar de Campoverde and around Lo Romero, the ground is a caliche crust over red clay and silt: we break the crust, then dig into clay that holds water, so drainage around the shell matters. On the coastal plain the silts are impermeable and groundwater sits high near El Mojón and Las Villas, by ramblas the PATRICOVA flood plan marks as flood-risk areas, so we set levels carefully and pour a fully sealed reinforced shell. The sea breeze comes from the east all pool season, the strong winter winds from the west and northwest, and that decides where the pergola and shower go. Torre and Mil Palmeras streets are tight, so we check machinery access on the visit.

Questions we get every week

How long does a pool take?

From about a week for small work up to roughly a month for a full concrete pool, once the licence is in. Weather and the town hall set the pace more than we do.

Do you handle the licence?

Yes. We prepare the project and file every document at the town hall ourselves. You do not go there.

Is the first visit really free?

Yes, and so is the itemised estimate. We come out, measure, and you get the price in writing before anything is dug.

How far do you travel?

About 150 km around Torrevieja. Most weeks we are in Orihuela Costa, Guardamar, Rojales, San Miguel, Pilar de la Horadada and Murcia.

Do you only do pools?

No. Terraces, gardens, irrigation, fencing, bathrooms and full home renovations, with the same crew.

What languages do you work in?

English, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian, and it is the same person from the first message to the handover.
